England is considered the origin of modern day democracy. And today England after hundreds of years is enjoying fruit of it. Commonest of a citizen, if he is capable is given the opportunities to participate in affairs of state. The latest Example is of common citizen Sadiq Khan, a Pakistani Muslim who after long struggle is now Labour Party Candidate for London's Mayor.

A British Born Pakistani Muslims was born on 8 October, 1970. His father used to drive bus to earn their livelihood. Sadiq Khan got degree in Law at the University of North London. Sadiq Khan through his ability and courage became socialist represented Tooting as a Councillor for the London Borough of Wandsworth from 1994 to 2006. In 2008 he was given the honor to be second Pakistani Muslim to be member of Cabinet. He then continued to Shadow Cabinet of Ed Miliband as Shadow Secretary of State for Justice and Shadow Lord Chancellor in 2010. Then he was appointed Shadow Minister for London. Later he resigned. On 11 September 2015, Khan was selected as the official Labour candidate to run for the London mayoralty. He is going popular by all surveys and polls.
This is an example of merit and excellence that democracy that England has attained. We as Pakistani must struggle and try our level best to flourish democracy and make such environment that commonest of citizen can contest for election of parliament.
