YouTube after launching local version for many countries including Pakistan, denied the access to blasphemous video in localized version. Google spokesperson said
We aim to provide an even more tailored YouTube experience by launching versions that are optimized for Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. We also hope that this will pave the way for the work of local creators, personalities, and musicians to shine on the world’s largest and most vibrant video community,
Efforts For Reopening
Pakistan Telecommunication Authority filed a petition in Supreme Court for opening of YouTube. Today on January 18, 2016 YouTube is open and accessible in Pakistan.Agreement Reached Between YouTube and Government of Pakistan
An agreement is signed between YouTube and Government of Pakistan. YouTube promised to provide local version of YouTube for Pakistan specific audience where specifically tailored content will be delivered to Pakistani users.YouTube Blocks Blasphemous Videos
Blasphemous videos on YouTube have been screened and blocked in localized version for Pakistan. Supreme Court has ordered Pakistan Telecommunication Authority and Information Technology Department to have regular check.
